Hurray!  A milestone reached!

OK, I’m not going to tell you there was some magical way I picked this target.  It came to me as I was trying to set a goal and it stuck with me.  I was surprised the other day when my weight dropped below it because I had not weighed myself in a while as just wasn’t expecting the drop.

This milestone has also turned out to be a bigger deal then I thought.  Firstly,  all my clothes fit better or in some cases are too loose.  I actually have to tighten my belt on certain pants to cause the material to buckles and become uncomfortable at times.  Oh, what a big problem to have.

Talking with my wife about the next goal weight, she brought up a great point.  There will be a time when my weight loss slows down so I as not to create a goal that makes the situation seem worse then it really is.  I need to pick a target weight that is closer rather then farther.

My next target weight is 260lbs.  This is another 15 pounds lighter.

I mentioned before that my brother wanted to get together each morning at the health club. I spoke with my oldest son, he is also now considering joining us as well. He would be back in time to catch a ride to high school.

I have learned that if I build an accountability group I do a much better job at reaching my goals.  Having a group of people to work-out with on regular basis would be a milestone on my weight-loss journey as well.

Welcome to my adventure in weight-loss. This is my journal which I freely share with you.  I do not expect comments, but would enjoy the support.  I do this solely to catalog my journey so I have something to look back on when the times get tough and I need to remember what things were like when I wasn’t feeling so good.  The creation of this blog represents a milestone in my journey.

On December 23, 2008 I experienced chest pains, sweating, and a pain under my left armpit and went to the local walk-in clinic and had a EKG performed.  All was normal but something told them I needed to be checked out more.  I don’ t know,  maybe it’s my age (44), my gender (male), my weight (297 lbs) which  gave them the warm and fuzzies that I’m about to have something more serious then just some chest pain.

The doctor asked that I chew and swallow an Aspirn and  go the hospital ER. He did  not want me to drive. My wife drove me to the emergency room.  Since the walk-in doctor had called ahead, I was moved into a room quickly, and placed on EKG again and then began watching the staff begin their many tests.  EKG. O2, Blood preasure (every 15 minutes), Blood draw. X-ray. Blood.  After several hours I was allowed to go home but was requested that I schedule a stress test.
