I finally got around to having my blood drawn for the test that the cardiologist requested. I’ve been feeling so good with 26 lbs lost that I almost forgot I have a follow up with the cardiologist. I hope the test results come out great!
That’s how I feal anyways.
I had some real bad hunger cravings tonight. I realized I had not had any ftuit all day so I had a pare and an apple. Fruit are great snack foods! That really hit the spot. My stomach seems full and I’m ready to head off to bed.
This weekend I had three: My Mother-in-law’s birthday, church social, and superbowl party. Ok, the church social is not a party, I know, but man can those church people eat! They had a killer apple crum strusle somthing-or-other that propably hit my calorie count for the day! (I had two) 8(
All in all, I only gained a pound this weekend. So I guess I’ve learned that if I’m going off the reservation, I might as well do it big!
This is turning out to be a great way I can have fun with the boys and get some great exercise in. The boys, Aaron & Justin, like to hang on my back as I pull them around the pool. I get a great work out and they have fun.
It’s also great that other kids are often there. This give me a chance to sit in the hot tub and watch the boys while they play and I get a great soak at 104 degrees.
Jon usually heads the basket ball court and plays there. Nick usually lifts.
I was able to get to the health club today. With all the snow we’ve had these last few days I have not been able to get good work outs in. I had a solid one hour to work out. It turned into 30 minutes of 3.5 mph walking on the treadmill. I wanted to get my heart rate over 150 for as long as I could but could not get it passt 145. So for the last 5 minutes I decided to up the incline and my rate shot to 155 in just a few seconds. It’s amazing what a little incline does to the muscles. For the last 5 minutes I kept my rate above 150 and really worked out my leg muscles.
One of my goals is to walk an hour with my heart rate above 150 before I start really pushing my body. Today 30 minutes was all I could handle. It was tough to push myself the last 10 minutes.
The next 30 minutes were in the sauna. I filled the water bucket and kept the heated stones hissing as much as I could. I don’t know what the temp was with the humidity. The thermometer does not work in the men’s sauna. It’s just always pegged at 190. I really had a good sweat. This is exactly what I needed since the last few days I’ve been eating bad foods with lots of salt and gained a bunch of water wait.
My legs are really sore this evening. I’m having a hard time getting out of chairs! 8)
Not to much to report today. The boys are home. Just spending time with them.
Tonight we had a great night at the pool. I have learned on of the best ways to get a lot of energy out in the evenings is to head to the health club and use the pool, especially for my boys. During the winter months, the pool gives us the needed distractions of and avoid being stuck in the house on these daylight starved times of the year.
The most fun, and calorie burning, is racing Aaron the length of the pool with Justin in tow on my back. A couple of times back and forth, fighting the water’s resistance and Aaron’s speed, and I’m spent.
Lot’s of great memories too!
I have to get myself prepared for the blood test. It requires 12 hours of fasting, water only in those 12 hours. I plan on using my sleep time to get that 12 hours in and go to the health park after getting the boys to school this week.
The thing I like most of the Diet Center diet is that I can eat 6 times a day so I never feel hungry. I have learned that this works well for me. This fasting stuff is for the birds!
They will be testing blood levels for cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, IDL, Risk Factors according the the paperwork from my doctor.
This morning after dropping off Aaron at school, I went over to the local health park and had my ultrasound. It took about 30 minutes. I was fortunate to have my iPod Nano along so I could listen to something as my lubed me up and did the test. At one point as I lay on my left side, I thought they were going to break rib. I should know something in 2 days the technician said.
My cardiologist said he would only call if there was something serious. Otherwise we would talk at my next appointmen on October 9th, 2009.
OK, the good news first. My cardiologist informed me that the stress test looked fine and no further invasive procedures are needed. He wanted to know about family history, especially related to gallbladder. He explained that the symptoms of a gallbladder attack are very similar to heart attack. Chest pain, sweating, with radiating pain to the shoulders is not uncommon for acute gallbladder attacks.
Talking with my mom on-line, I had forgot that when I was younger she had gallbladder problems and her’s was removed. I will need to update my cardiologist with this information. I did not state this in my family history section.
So long as nothing comes of the two scheduled follow-up tests I will see my cardiologist in 9 months. He also told me he expects me 50 lbs. lighter by then, with a tinkle in his eye. I sat thinking for a moment, then told him ‘sure, no problem’. He got a good chuckle out of it.
Two tests have been scheduled: Gallbladder Ultra-Sound, Cholesterol Test.
The bad news: none, keep doing what I’m doing. Exercise and lose weight!
